Hugh Malcolm McEachern passed away November 29, 2012 at Moosomin Hospital at the age of 84 years.
Hugh was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Laura McEachern and nephew Clare Sokalski. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Mary, stepchildren Louise (Terry) Keith, Laurence (Irene) deLaforest and families; his sister Frances (Tom) Sokalski and their children Margaret, Duane (Doreen), Bernadette, Laura (Owen) and Thomas (Teresa) as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and cousins.
Hugh was the first born to Andrew and Laura on the Fenwick quarter, Sec. 34, Tp 13, Rge 33, W1. He lived for a few years in Eden Grove district and for a number of years in Regina; the family moved back to original Ronald McEachern homestead in 1937.
Hugh loved the farm life and the Pipestone Valley. He worked hard and enjoyed each day to the fullest. He waited a long time to meet Mary, the love of his life and they were married June 29, 1991. They were married for 21 wonderful years. Both enjoyed travelling, Sunday drives, playing cards and visiting family and friends.
Being very musical, he entertained by piano and often sang for his nieces and nephews as well as at the Whitewood Nursing Home. He had a sharp mind and a sense of humor.
Hugh has been described by those who will miss him as: being dedicated to his faith, providing care and service to others, having a gentle soul and as being a true gentleman.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Whitewood by Rev. Fr. Joseph Thundathil.

Hugh had written on his headstone “Life Well Lived.”
Hugh will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
