HODGKINSON – It’s with huge sorrow the family of Erin Hodgkinson of Saltcoats, SK. announce the passing of our much-loved daughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin, girlfriend, friend, coworker.
On June 2, 1983, Erin was born to Joan Neal and Cam Louttit. Erin got her baby brother 2-1/2 years later. Erin made us so proud. She was fun-loving, kind, patient, helpful and an exceptional caregiver. Erin loved to laugh and had an excellent sense of humor. She and her boyfriend Davey enjoyed the same movies and TV shows that would have them laughing and joking +++. She was always
sharing silly memes and posts with her brother especially and many others.
The biggest and happiest highlights of Erin’s short life were the birth of her daughter Emma, summer vacations at Clear Lake with Emma and recently in May with Davey, buying and owning her own home, recently securing a new rotation on the dialysis unit at YRHC. Erin loved babies and small children. Her Emma was adored as well as all Erin’s little cousins and now her little cousins’ babies. She enjoyed her friends’ young children +++ and was so happy to keep up with their lives.
Throughout her short life our beautiful Erin was very, very talented at many things. She was so tiny and yet walked at six months, before she could even sit up by herself. Some of her childhood accomplishments were figure skating where she was a lovely, talented skater and became a qualified CAN-Skate coach. She volunteered faithfully at YRHC through the Volun-Teen program at her high school where she honed her care giving skills. She received her Red Cross Babysitting Certificate and babysat her cousins and neighbours then continued the babysitting tradition for years. She loved babysitting for family friends and eventually coworker Thersea Laycock.
Erin had zeal and a flare for dressing well. She had a passion for makeup and skincare serving as a trained Clinique sales rep for the Hudson’s Bay Company after graduating high school. She was obsessed with eyewear, jewelry and purses which was evident even in early childhood. That tiny girl who picked out her own clothes and accessories was within her throughout her life.
Erin was predeceased by her loving great-grandparents Lester and Addie Yalland, Wilfred and Emily Widger, Tom and Phiyllis Neal, Susan and Fred Ward, Dora and Dave Louttit; and grandparents Lorne Neal, Freda and Winton Louttit. Erin leaves to morn her passing: mother Joan Neal, step-father Ken O’Neal, father Cam Louttit, grandma Pat Neal, partner Davey Soloway, daughter Emma Hogdkinson, brother Brian Louttit; many loving aunts and uncles, godparents and cousins. Erin will be in our loving memories forever.
A Celebration of Erin’s Life was held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026 from the Saltcoats & District Community Hall, Saltcoats, SK, led by family friend, Lois Smandych. Words of remembrance was shared by Matt Koroluk. A private family interment followed in the Saltcoats Historic Cemetery with Brian Louttit and Davey Soloway serving as urn bearers. Memorial donations in memory of Erin may be made to
Saltcoats School for purchase of new playground equipment or a bench in her honor, as gifts of remembrance. Condolences may be left for the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com
