Last month, ‘Team Ede’ (Logan Ede – Skip, Brayden Grindheim – Third, Michael Hom – Second and Austin Krupski – Lead) won the title of Junior Men’s Provincial Champions.
Ede and his teammates are now preparing to travel to Rouyn-Noranda, QC to represent Saskatchewan in the Junior Curling Nationals which will take place on March 25 to April 2, 2023.
“At the beginning of February, we curled in the SaskTel Tankard in Estevan and did really well – playing against some of the top teams in the province. Now, after we’ve had a short break, we’re going to be busy training for the Nationals!”
Ede notes that while Curling Canada assists with transportation costs, the team will be responsible for the remainder of the cost for the trip.
“Curling Canada will cover the cost for the team members and one of our coaches to fly to Quebec and back.
But the flight for our second coach isn’t covered. And we’re also responsible for the cost of our hotel rooms (for a 12-night stay) as well as our meals and transportation while we’re there.”
In order to help cover these costs, Ede says that the team and their families will be holding a fundraising event in early March.
“We’re holding a Fundraiser on Friday, March 10th at the Kipling Rec Centre. The evening event will include cocktails and a steak supper, both a Live and Silent Auction, a raffle and a dance.”
Ede notes that although the event is still in the planning stage – support is already beginning to grow.
“We’re still early on in planning for this fundraiser. But several people have already contacted us to buy tickets and to offer donations for the auctions – which is great.”
Tickets for the Fundraiser are $25/person. Anyone wanting more information or to donate or purchase tickets can contact: Marnie Krupski 306-735-7758, Logan Ede at 306-736-7220, or any other member of the team.
An “Event” page for the “Team Ede Fundraiser” has also been created on Facebook.
