Date of Birth: March 18, 1939

Date of Death: May 8, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Elinora (Eleanor) Keller announces her passing on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the age of 85 years.
Eleanor was born on March 18, 1939, on the family homestead a few miles south of Melville to Henry and Martha Steffen (nee Meyer). She was the youngest of four children and grew up on the farm where she attended the Pearl Creek School. Eleanor married Elmer Keller in 1958 and lived on a farm five miles southeast of Melville. There they raised their family and farmed until 1999 when they moved into the city of Melville.
Eleanor enjoyed being busy and was always active. In addition to the many duties that farm life brings, she also worked many years in Melville, first for the Co-op Creamery and then at Sears. She was an active bowler and enjoyed being involved in the church choir at Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church. When Eleanor and Elmer moved into Melville, she continued to be active, walking daily, and loved gardening, taking pride in her flower beds.
Eleanor loved to socialize, always going out for coffee with friends and attending senior dances throughout the surrounding area. She loved seeing her grandchildren, often spoiling them with gifts and sweets and playing ball in her back yard. Eleanor was an avid curling and baseball fan and enjoyed watching games on TV and going to ball games, cheering on the local team. She loved to laugh; she loved life.
Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband, Elmer; her parents, Henry and Martha Steffen; in-laws Henry and Margaret Keller; sister Shirley Howard; sister-in-law Emily Steffen; and brother-in-law Richard Miller. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Brian (Sharon) Keller of Calgary; her granddaughters, Chelsey and Jessica Keller of Calgary; brother Gordon Steffen of Melville; sister Winnifred Miller of Regina; brother-in-law Jack Howard of Vernon, B.C.; close friend Jim Varga of Bangor, SK; and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Eleanor will be greatly missed by all of those who had been a part of her life.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
