It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Jules Hall of Ottawa, on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024.
Edward was born on July 12, 1946 to Hector and Elise Hall of Whitewood, Sask. He was raised, along with his two sisters, on a mixed farm southwest of Whitewood. He attended Park School from grades 1 to 8 and high school in Whitewood from 1961 to 1965 before leaving to continue his studies in Regina. He received his Bachelor of Education in 1969 and Bachelor of Arts in French in 1972, both with distinction, from the University of Saskatchewan.
Edward taught high school in Saskatchewan for five years. In 1977, he left to take a position with Canada Post in Montréal. His fluency in both of Canada’s official languages led to a transfer to Ottawa. He worked for Canada Post for 30 years in Communications and Human Resources.
Before and after retirement, Edward traveled extensively to Belgium, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and France. Edward’s favourite destination was Italy where he spent his winters.
Edward is survived by his sisters, Viviane Scott of Grenfell, SK and Noële Hall of London, ON. Also survived by his dear friends in Ottawa, Janie Randolph, Richard Reade, Collin O’Leary and Bradley Stuike, Enrique Munoz-Maza. Survived by his cousin, Jim Nicol of Regina, SK. He leaves behind his nieces, Pennie Kimery, Shannon Bowes and nephew, Eren Scott.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Hector and Elise Hall; his grandparents, Jules and Noële Mauroy; his tante, Micheline Nicol; his cousin, Michele Myrah; and brother-in-law, Patrick Scott.
