Skate-a-thon fun - Members of the Kennedy Skating Club along, with several of their friends, were out having fun on the skating ice during the club’s annual Skate-a-thon, which took place on Saturday, January 27 at the Kennedy Community Rink.

Last Saturday, as Kennedy residents came out to enjoy the first Rink Supper of the season, a group of skaters took to the ice to take part in the Kennedy Skating Club’s annual Skate-a-thon.
Adrienne Hanson (Chair – Kennedy Skating Club) says that the Skate-a-thon was something that both Skating Club members and non-members took part in.
“Our theme for Skate-a-thon this year was ‘Neon’. We had 35 kids participate and only about half of them were from our club – as we had siblings and friends from Kipling, Wawota and Kennedy join us for the fun as well.
“This was a ‘fun event’ as we did not fundraise off the Skate-a-thon this year. Bridgette Skibinski is the mastermind behind the Skate-a-thon and it is something that the kids always look forward to.”
Hanson adds that members of the Kennedy Skating Club are now busy preparing for their annual Carnival.
“Our Carnival this year (Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour) will take place on Feb. 10th. It is a matinee that begins at 3 p.m. and will be followed by a Burger Bar. Items from the regular Rink Menu will also be available following the show.
“The Carnival will feature a variety of performances from all Skating Club members including solos, duets and (the always popular) group number from the Junior Star and Star 3+ groups.”
