Peacefully, and with her family by her side, on Sunday, April 30, 2023, Delores Stoll of Melville, and formerly of Neudorf, passed away at the age of 87 years after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
She was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd Stoll, loving mother and grandmother of Greg (Janka), Colin, Candace (Kyler Storm), Halen, Madeleine; Cory (Berta), Alicia (Chris Ludwar), Rykr, Tiffany (Daniel Hope), Kyson, Bria; Darren (Lynnell), Reid and Kale. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Marge Syrnyk, Norma Goebel, Elmer (Adelle) Steininger, Gloria (Ron) Loveridge and sisters-in-law Shirley Ulmer, Clara Stoll and Sue Stoll.
Mom married Dad on Nov. 12, 1954, and they lived on the farm for many years. Mom loved the farm life and always said that she hated school and would sooner be on the farm with all the animals, looking after them instead of spending her time in school. Mom was a great homemaker who loved to cook and bake. She was known for her great perogies, cabbage rolls and, of course, her flapper pie that could be found at any Neudorf event. Mom was a goer and a mover, never sitting still and always looking for something else to do. She especially loved the fall when harvest was happening and she could be out in the field.
Over the years, Mom never missed anything in which her boys were involved; she loved watching them play hockey, ball and curling. Everywhere they went, she went, and, after that, she followed Dad wherever he was umping. Then she carried on as her grandchildren became older and were in many different activities.
In the later years, Mom fell in love with their winters down in Mesa and couldn’t wait to get down there and see all her Mesa friends. Those were some of the best winters that she and Dad had. As time moved on, and they could no longer go down south and had to leave their house in Neudorf, they moved to Melville, where Mom loved her apartment just like her previous house but without all the outside work to do. As much as she loved her yard, she always said “I sure don’t miss cutting grass”.
We will cherish all the good times we had together. She is now resting peacefully together with Dad.
We would like to thank the Melville hospital for the great care over the last nine weeks. A special thank you to Dr. Eshawesh, Kim Rutzki and all the fantastic nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville.
Delores’s funeral service was held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Melville, with interment in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Neudorf. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Neudorf, or the Good Shepherd
