With gratitude for his life, the family wishes to announce Wilfred Rieger, late of Grayson, SK, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the age of 88 years.
Wilfred was born in Grayson, SK, on May 17, 1934, the second oldest child of Mathias and Gertrude Rieger.
Wilfred never married. His interest in farming allowed him to work the family homestead southeast of Grayson. After several years of farming, Wilfred moved into Grayson. Gardening and tending to his yard became interests, along with listening to music and watching sports on television. He never missed listening to the Saturday Night Polka Party on the radio. Wilfred was a pleasure to be around and enjoyed talking with family, friends and neighbours.
Wilfred was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Annie Wihlidal and Vern; and brother-in-law Peter Wihlidal. He is survived by his brother, Dave (Val), and sister-in-law Helen Rieger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville and St. Paul Lutheran Home for their compassionate care over the years. An extended thank you to the Grayson community and neighbours who, for the last several years, supported Wilfred which allowed him to stay in his home as long as possible.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
