Thomas William Cummins was born in Whitewood, Sask. on Sept. 24, 1948 and passed away on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023.
Tom is remembered by his mother Florence; sister Rosaline; brother Clarence; sister Mary (Craig) Tudhope; brother Ron (Teresa); and nephews, Patrick (Caitlin) Cummins and Clint (Hannah) Cummins. He was predeceased by his father, Bill Cummins, in 1975.
Tom grew up on the family farm south of Kennedy, taking the first six years of his education at the Belleville country school, with the remaining six years being at Kennedy school, graduating in 1966.
Tom worked at various jobs including at an elevator in Langbank and at local farm labor in the Kennedy area
before moving to Edmonton. While in the Edmonton area, he worked at the Al Oeming Game Farm and then Acklands.Tom moved back to Kennedy and the family farm in 1975 and started seasonal summer work at the Moose Mountain Provincial Park. Various winter jobs took him to the Clearwater, B.C. area and logging work and then to Flin Flon, Man. for work with Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting. Most of Toms off farm working life at Kennedy was spent in various positions in the maintenance department at Moose Mountain Provincial Park where he worked from 1975 to 2005.
His greatest loves were nature, animals, geocaching, sports (Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Maple Leafs), cross-country skiing, traveling, photography and eating – Tom always enjoyed a good meal!
Tom will be fondly remembered for fulfilling the role of loyal son and loving brother in his devoted care for Mom and Rosaline over many many years!
Tom won his first battle against cancer in 2019, however the disease returned and he was unable to overcome it the second time.
