Mary Hepperle of Melville, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the age of 100 years.
Mary was born at home on the family farm near Goodeve, SK, on Aug. 29, 1922. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Mary received a Grade 8 education. She married Alvin Hepperle on May 1, 1949, and they had 56 blessed years together. Mary and Alvin raised one daughter, Noreen.
Over the years, Mary worked for Swift Canadian, Dairy Producers and the Cameo Cafè. Following Alvin’s passing in 2005, Mary sold the house and moved into Heritage House in Melville. She later moved to Morris Lodge in Bangor, and then to St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville.
There were many special times in Mary’s life that she enjoyed, including Sunday afternoon coffee with the family, birthdays, anniversaries and visits with her grandson, great-grandchildren and, especially at this time of her life, her great-great-grandchild. She also loved playing cards, dancing, bowling, golfing, camping, boating and fishing with family and friends.
Mary was very close to God and believed that Jesus died for her and would someday come and take her home to be with him. She always said, “I am going to live to be 100”, and we have to be thankful that God blessed her with a long and rewarding life.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Fred Hack; her husband, Alvin; brothers Elmer, Helmuth, Harold and Johnny; parents-in-law Jacob and Caroline Hepperle; brothers-in-law Bill, Reinhold (Betty), Ziefried, Edward (Joy), Harold and Gordon; sisters-in-law
