James John Taschuk, 70 passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022 at St. Peters Hospital. He was born July 25, 1952 to Irene and John Taschuk of Melville, Sask. He was the oldest of five siblings.
Jim hired onto the CN at 18 years of age, and rode the rails until he retired in 2007 at the age of 55. In retirement he enjoyed road trips, holidays and adventures with friends and family. Jim preferred being outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, camping, and the cabin at McBride Lake. Friends were important to him and a favorite pastime was cutting wood with the “Birch Boys.” With a long time friend from Saskatoon, Jim helped cull the gopher population during the summer months. One of Dad’s sayings was “Life is Good” and where possible he took every opportunity to enjoy it.
He will be missed by his wife of 47 years, Jacqueline, daughter Kimberly, his sons Ian (Kristin) and Robert, and grandchildren Stella, Hank and Ruby. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Irene Taschuk and is survived by Joan (John) Chesney, Ron (Brenda), Cathy (Kevin) Bell and Mike, nieces, nephews and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
