It’s with great sadness we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Clara Miller of Melville, SK. Clara passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at the great age of 97 years.
Clara was born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Fenwood, SK, the last child of Margaret and Valentine Kraushaar. In 1945 Clara married John E. Miller in Melville, where together they raised their children, Sharon and Don.
Clara worked at Swifts and then at St. Paul Lutheran Home, while busy attending to her family’s needs. Mom was a great cook, making something out of nothing. Baking was done for grandchildren, which they looked forward to. Many years were spent at the lake with family and friends. Her love for music was displayed with being a member of the German Heritage choir and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church choir. Mom moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home in 2017, where she enjoyed the company of others and social activities until the end.
Clara was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Valentine; her husband, John, in 2008; son Don in 2013; son-in-law Richard Lindsay in 2022; her brothers and sisters, Jack, Walter, Fred, Mary, Margaret, Edith and Elsie. The family would like to thank St. Paul Lutheran Home for the care and kindness they bestowed on her.
Clara’s funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Melville, with Ray Yost officiating. The organist was Gaylene Matthews, and the eulogy was presented by Alysha Nelson. Interment followed in the Melville City Cemetery with Scott Nelson, Lindsay Nelson, Lori Miller, Kate Ferguson, Melissa Nelson and Ty Nelson acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
