Date of Death: March 16, 2022

Treasured husband and father, Charles Gelowitz, entered his eternal rest Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, at the age of 77, following a brave and extended battle with abdominal cancer.
Charles was born in February 1945 and grew up in his beloved community of Grayson, SK, moving back and forth between Regina and Grayson several times over his lifetime. It was in Regina where he met the love of his life, Anne, and where his three children, Cherie, Scott and Sheldon, were born.
Charles had an innate curiosity and talent for tinkering and fixing things, which led him to pursue additional education after Grade 12, earning a second class power engineer designation. With this combination of talent and education, he was gainfully employed at Co-op, Molson’s and the Agriculture Canada Research Station. But his real passion was farming, so in 1978 he convinced Anne to move to Grayson and take over the family farm. He often said he couldn’t have imagined a better way to live. While farming, he drove school bus, which he also enjoyed and took very seriously. Prior to retiring, he worked at the Yorkton Hospital. In 2004, Charles and Anne retired from farming and moved back to Regina.
Charles was a kind and generous soul, who always had a friendly smile and a contagious laugh. He loved to chat, debate the latest news of the day and cheer for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Charles was an amazing father, with a natural talent for teaching his children the important things in life. He was a very dedicated grandfather, who had no qualms about running through the house with a laundry basket on his head if it meant the kids were having fun. He loved music and camping. Charles was always very dedicated to his religious life and donated his time and effort to the communities he lived in. In his retirement, he became an avid family historian and an artist, creating beautiful stained glass and metal art for his family.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Anne; his children: Cherie (Arlan) Frick, Scott (Jennifer) Gelowitz and Sheldon Gelowitz; seven grandchildren, Luke, Jessica, Zachary, Travis, Rachel, Rebecca and Ryan; his five sisters, Phyllis (Glen) Bailey, Hilda Derkach, Linda (Lorne) Smith, Jean (Lyle) Straker, Christine Jasper; one brother, Sam (Sharon) Gelowitz; and a large and loving extended family.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary Gelowitz; and his in-laws, Adolf and Olga Dickoff.
The funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Regina with Rev. Fr. James Owolagba as the Celebrant.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
