SCHICK – David Daniel, was the sixth son born to John Phillip and Carlene (nee Kiselbach) Schick. He was born on the farm home five miles northeast of Duff on Aug.16, 1934.
David went to Colmer School for 10 years and was very active in sports: softball, hockey, and horse racing.
David helped his father on the farm for many years. David was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life on July 19, 1955 and after a few years went farming in the Bangor and Atwater area.
They had a active life raising their eight children. They were active in St. Michael’s Church in Bangor, serving on parish council for many years. David was also the 4-H leader for the Bangor 4-H Club for 25 years, in many of those years he served on the 4-H District Council, East Central Regional Council, and, in 1997, was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame.
David and Rose farmed for 55 years and when they were having some health problems, they retired to Melville, which gave him the freedom to still go farming when he wanted.
David was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur (Pearl), Ernest, Henry (Ruby), Herbert, and Wilfred; his sisters, Gerty Kohlenberg (Henry) and Edna; brother-in-law Harold Speidel; brother and sister in infancy; and three grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Greg (Myrna), Brenda, Marilyn (Doug), Carol (Jody), Jackie (Harry), Tim (Delores), Annette (Allan), and Michelle; 20 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; siblings, Fernie (Agnes), Doreen (Jack), Evelyn (Edwin), Vern (Judy) and Wilson (Audrey); numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service for David was held at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church in Melville, SK, on Friday Oct. 12, 2018 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Andrzej officiating.
Interment followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Bangor, SK.
Arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yorkton, SK.
