It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Serfas announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the age of 69 years.
Janet Eileen was born on April 30, 1949 at Melville, Sask., to Jacob and Sophie (nee Mohr) Schmidt.
She dedicated herself to her kids, she enjoyed the simplicity of life and was very proud and overjoyed with all of her grandchildren.
Janet developed a passion for golf and took great joy in her
Rider pride. She loved being outside in her yard, in which she took a lot of pride. Janet also loved all animals and was very appreciative of wildlife and Mother Nature.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Sophie Schmidt; in-laws, Joseph and Mary Serfas; and brothers, Gordon, George and Bob.
She leaves behind: her loving husband of 50 years, Wesley Serfas; son, Jeff (Miranda) Serfas; daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Leik; son, Todd (Donna) Serfas; son, Wade (Nicole) Serfas; grandchildren, Kristyn (Matt) Leik; Amanda (Jesse) Harper; Kiara Brost; Ethan and Koyin Serfas; Maddy and Cayde Serfas; and Joey Serfas; and two great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Kesslyr Harper.
A graveside service was held Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Duff Cemetery with the Rev. Kim Sherwin officiating and Janet’s grandchildren acting as urn bearers. Fred Loveridge sang one of Janet’s favourite songs, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” as a special tribute to her. Memorial donations may be made to the Duff Cemetery Fund.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
