It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Anthony Nowokowski of Whitewood, SK, on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the age of 87 years.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Katherine; and brother, John.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; six children, Allen, Darlene, Darwin, Lori, Donna and Shawn; two brothers, Stan and Martin; four sisters, Nellie, Agnes, Katie and Roseanne; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Through marriage, Tom and Irene welcomed three more grandchildren to their family.
Thomas was born on a farm in the Kennedy area on July 14, 1930. He was raised on his father’s farm, purchasing his own in 1960.
On Dec. 26, 1959, he married the love of his life, Irene Beer. Together they raised a family of six children. They began farming with two quarters of land, a few beef cattle and one dairy cow. Tom loved farming. He was very fond of his Charolais cattle.
Tom and Irene retired in 1998 and moved to Whitewood. Thomas loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Whitewood, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 with Rev. Fr. Rene Mangahas celebrating. Readers were Nikki Thiesen, Lori Rittwage and Debbie Schenstead. Brian Rittwage provided the eulogy and the Veresh family provided the music. Shawn Nowokowski was the urn bearer. Donations in memory of Thomas can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Whitewood Community Health Centre.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood.
