KREKLEWICH – Peter, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre in Toronto, ON at the age of 92.
Born in the summer of 1925 to George and Martha Kreklewich, Peter grew up on the family farm in Melville, SK as one of seven children.
Touched by a bit of wanderlust, while in his teens he decided to move to Ontario where he eventually met and married Olga Stefaniw. Olga and Peter shared 38 years and six children together.
Peter was a kind and honourable man whose interests included playing cards, golf and curling. He joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1950 and was a dedicated officer until his retirement 33 years later in 1983.
Peter is survived by his sisters, Ann (Novakowski) and Rose (Walchuk); his brother, Joe; and his children, Marlene (Page), Wayne, Pat (Ashforth), George, Karen (Heard) and Kimberli (Hodges); 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Phil and Andrew; his sister, Mary (Osicki), his wife, Olga; and special friend, Jean Seidlik.
It was Peter’s wishes that he be cremated and laid to rest in eternity beside his wife Olga at Holy Cross Cemetery in Toronto, ON.
A celebration of life will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket, ON. Please contact the funeral home for details.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Peter’s memory to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
