Formerly of Melville, SK, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, in Yorkton, SK.
Donald was born on Feb. 19, 1931, to Albert and Reta (Clark) Sedgwick at the family farm near Neudorf, SK, where he grew up. He married Margaret Young and together they farmed until they retired into Melville.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Reta; brother, Wilbert Sedgwick; sister, Ruth Woodley; son, Kenneth Sedgwick; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He leaves to celebrate his life: his wife, Margaret; children, Sheila (Dale) Thies and Edward (Laura) Sedgwick; grandchildren, a great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed and will remain in our hearts.
Donald’s funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at First United Church, Melville with the Rev. Susan Griffith officiating. The pianist, Shirley Blakley, led in the hymns “In the
Garden” and “Amazing Grace.” Don’s son Ed gave the eulogy which was followed by tribute music, “Remember When” by Allan Jackson.
Interment took place in the Melville City Cemetery with Stuart Sies, Hugh Zerr, Kris Sedgwick, Dale Thies, Warren McKersie and Jordan Sies acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
