Theresa (nee Novakowski) Yastrub of Westview, wife of the late Michael Yastrub, entered her eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, , with family by her side.
Theresa was born on Oct. 3, 1943 in Melville, Sask., to Albert and Rose (nee Werbicki) Novakowski. She received her education at St. Henry’s School in Melville.
On Nov. 29, 1968, Theresa was united in marriage to Michael Yastrub at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton The couple resided at Westview and were blessed with four sons.
Theresa began her work career at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville in admitting, later worked in parts at CCIL in Melville, Yorkton and Nykolaishen Farm Equipment in Raymore and Kamsack.
Theresa was a loving, kind, and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was an amazing cook, known for her perogies, cabbage rolls and soups — she loved to cook for her family and friends. Theresa also loved to shop, especially if she had a coupon.
Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Michael Yastrub; parents, Albert and Rose Novakowski; brothers, William (Pauline), Edward and Frank (Judith) Novakowski; and her sisters, Josephine (and husband William), Emily (Gerald) and Helen (and her husband Andy) Novak.
Theresa is survived by her brother, Henry Novakowski; and sister, Eileen (Dave) Dempsey; sons, Michael (Shorty), Mark (Shannon Gottschalk), Todd (Melissa Westvelt) and Tim (Jamie Waldbauer) Yastrub; grandchildren, Morgan, Cassandra, Brendan, Dakota, Alexandra and Matthew (and their mom, Melissa Powell); great-grandson, Connor; numerous nieces and nephews, and her dear friends, Corrie Eichelberg and Gloria Rudnitski.
She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s funeral and Cremation Care Melville.
