After an extensive investigation, Esterhazy RCMP, along with the assistance of Yorkton Police Dog Services, Yorkton Municipal, Kamsack and Moosomin RCMP, executed a search warrant on a residence on the 800 block of Gonczy Avenue in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.

Located and seized from the residence were four pounds and 13.4 oz of cocaine, one pound of crack cocaine, several ounces of crystal methamphetamine, a large amount of Canadian currency and two firearms.

21-year-old Sarwar Habib from Esterhazy was arrested and charged with several offences including:

  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possess weapon for dangerous purpose, section 88(2) C.C.
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime, section 96(2) C.C.
  • Careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) C.C.
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, section 354(1)(a) C.C.

Habib has been remanded into custody. His next court appearance is Thursday, October 8th, in Yorkton Provincial Court.
