Weishaupt, EmilyWEISHAUPT – It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, Emily Weishaupt, who passed away quietly on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital at the beautiful age of 95 years young.
Emily was born on Feb. 22, 1920 in Birmingham, England to Ada and Thomas Emery. She met and married Anthony (Tony) Weishaupt during the war, and in 1946 she came to Canada as a war bride. She was active in the War Brides Association, attending yearly conventions as long as her health permitted.
Emily is survived by her sons: Barry, George and Tom (Elaine) and their family, Cory, Christopher, Jennifer Weishaupt, Brandy Marchinko and Jessica Sauce; her daughter-in-law, Cecile Weishaupt and her children, Jenn Bolen and Sherry Reid; her daughter, Shirley (Elmer) Haas and their family, Michelle (Greg) Banow, Wayne (Tara), Rodney (Michelle) and Robert (Kim) Haas; also a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Emily was predeceased by
her husband, Tony, in December, 1975; and her son, Peter, in October 2005.
A vigil service for Emily was held Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church, Melville with the Rev. Fr. Mitch Burdzy, OMI, presiding.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at St. Henry’s Church with Fr. Mitch celebrating. Leonard Gadica led the music, Dave Hudy was the reader and Lillian Halyk was the eucharistic minister. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Robert G. Combe VC Branch #61, Melville, formed an honour guard and acted as pallbearers.
Interment followed in St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery, Melville.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
