On June 18th at approximately 10:10 A.M., members from the Melville RCMP Detachment, along with Melville Fire Protection Services and EMS, attended to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway #47, approximately 10 km’s south of the city.

Emergency crews on the scene recovered a lone occupant from inside the vehicle that had been submerged in a slough adjacent to the roadway. The male subject was pronounced as deceased at the time of this recovery. The vehicle had been traveling northbound on the highway and indications are that it lost control and entered the slough.

The deceased individual has been identified as an 83-year-old male from British Columbia. Next of kin has been completed and his name will not be released.

Assistance into this matter has been received by the Office of the Provincial Coroner and remains still under investigation by members of the Yorkton Collision Reconstructionist Unit, whom are currently still on the scene.
