On Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 5:40 p.m., Tisdale RCMP received a complaint that an adult female and her three children had not been heard from all day and were unreachable. The complainant advised this was not typical behaviour. Members initiated a well-fare check.

As a result of the complaint, Tisdale RCMP began an investigation. Information obtained during the investigation led investigators to a residence in the community of Tisdale. At approximately 1:00 a.m. on April 22, 2015, members from Tisdale RCMP entered this residence and located four deceased individuals: an adult female and three children under the age of 9.

At this point in the investigation, the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed; however, investigators believe the deceased are the same individuals who were reported missing at 5:40 p.m. on April 21, 2015. Initial investigation has determined that the deaths of the four individuals found in the residence were homicides. Based on this early information, investigators also believe the homicides took place prior to the complaint which led to the well-fare check on April 21, 2015.

Investigators immediately began searching for the suspect, an adult male, who was located in a residence in the city of Prince Albert at approximately 2:00 a.m. At approximately 6:20 a.m., investigators entered the residence and the suspect was located deceased in the residence. Investigators do not consider this death a homicide. Located with the deceased suspect was a 6-month-old infant. The infant was not injured and is now being cared for by the Ministry of Social Services.

Investigators believe the adult male located deceased in the residence in Prince Albert is the suspect in the deaths of the four victims located in Tisdale. There is no risk to public safety and investigators do not anticipate laying any criminal charges relating to these four deaths. The suspect was known to the victims.

Investigators are working to confirm the identity of the deceased. We will not be releasing any further details about the deceased until their identity has been confirmed, family members have been notified and permission has been obtained from the next of kin to release names of the victims.

Tisdale RCMP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Unit – South, RCMP Major Crime Unit – North, Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section, Tisdale RCMP Forensic Identification Unit and the Prince Albert Police Service.
