She is also survived by her sister Eleanor Robinson and her brother Alvin (Margaret) Abramson, sister-in-law Irene Abramson, sister-in-law Yvonne Alton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ethel was born November 26, 1929 on the family farm near Kipling where she lived and worked the first years of her life. She also spoke fondly of the short time that she worked in Vancouver. In the fall of 1949 she married Xavier and moved to his family farm on the Pipestone Lake, where their home became a centre of hospitality. Later Ethel and Xavier moved into Whitewood where she worked in the dry good department of the Solo store, in a bank, and her favorite, a ladies dress shop. Ethel did many alterations, baked for most of the social organizations in town, did hairdressing for the neighbour ladies, and grew a huge garden. All the while she continued to show the kind of hospitality and helpfulness that she had become known for.

The grandchildren were an important part of Ethel’s life, and all of them have many fond memories of summer visits and the trailer at Grimeau Park.

Ethel moved to Regina in 2005 where she kept busy playing bridge, dancing, singing in a choir and welcoming family and old friends in her home. In spite of failing health in recent years she never lost her love for life.
